Senior Dog Care

Extra-patient grooming for older dogs who need a little more time and comfort.

The work

Extra-patient grooming for older dogs who need a little more time and comfort.

Senior dogs need a different approach than younger ones. At Zoomin Groomin, we work slower and pay attention to joint pain, skin sensitivity, and fatigue. We keep grooming sessions shorter so your dog isn't standing for long stretches. We also check in with you about any health concerns before we start, so we know what to avoid.

Older dogs often have arthritis or skin conditions that flare up with stress. We use warm water instead of cold, skip the high-velocity dryer if it bothers them, and we're careful around bony areas. We can work around lumps, scars, or tender spots you point out. If your senior dog needs a break mid-groom, we take one.

Your dog leaves here clean, trimmed, and not exhausted. We don't rush the process or force them into uncomfortable positions. You'll notice we're gentler with handling, and we check in with you about how they did. Most senior dogs relax during their appointment because they know they're safe.

What's included: Warm water bath with senior-friendly shampoo; Careful hand-drying or low-speed dryer use; Nail trim and pad cleaning; Ear cleaning and light grooming around sensitive areas; Post-groom health check and owner consultation.

Questions

About senior dog care

My senior dog has arthritis. Can you still groom her?

Yes. We keep her standing time short, use warm water, and avoid positions that stress her joints. Tell us where she's sore and we'll work around it. Some owners do shorter, more frequent appointments instead of one long session.

What if my dog gets tired during grooming?

We stop and let her rest. Senior dogs don't have the stamina they used to, and we respect that. We can split the appointment into two visits if that works better for your dog.

How often should I bring my senior dog in?

Every 6 to 8 weeks is typical, but it depends on her coat and skin. We can recommend a schedule based on what we see during the first appointment.
